Lolly, my son gave me a "Bill, Bird in Hand", which is a cardboard cutout of a man that you can put a shirt and hat on. I did that and sat it in a lawn chair a few feet from my bird feeder and left it there a few days, then moved it closer. It had a wooden outstreached hand with a cup for birdfeed. So after a few days, I took the shirt and hat and put it on me and I sat in the chair with a handful of birdfeed in one hand and my camera in the othere. Was only a few minutes till the downy approached and landed on my hand. I was trying to get a Cardinal but I think they are too skiddish. Never got one.
